An Indian HAL Tejas fighter jet crashed on Friday afternoon while performing at the Dubai Airshow, sending thick black smoke into the sky and prompting an immediate emergency response.
The accident happened around 2:10 p.m. local time as the aircraft was executing a demonstration routine. Authorities have not yet confirmed whether the pilot managed to eject before the jet went down.
Spectators, including many families in attendance, were pushed back from the area as firefighting and rescue teams rushed to the scene. The flying program was suspended following the crash.
Event organizers and officials have so far released no additional information. An investigation into the incident is currently underway.
